India and Singapore today signed five agreements covering Civil Aviation, Space, Skill Development, Digital Asset Innovation, and the Green and Digital Shipping Corridor. The MoUs were exchanged following bilateral talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong in New Delhi.

In his press statement, Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed India and Singapore’s commitment to advancing the Joint Vision for ASEAN cooperation and maintaining peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. He underlined Singapore’s role as India’s largest trade partner in Southeast Asia and a key pillar of the Act East Policy.

Highlighting technology and innovation as strong foundations of the partnership, Mr. Modi said both sides will strengthen collaboration in Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and other digital technologies. He added that green shipping, skilling, civil nuclear, and urban water management will become new focal points of cooperation.

To boost trade, both nations agreed to conduct a time-bound review of the Bilateral Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement and the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement.

Mr. Modi also emphasized the shared resolve to combat terrorism, stating that fighting terrorism with unity is a duty of all humanitarian nations. He expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Wong and the Singapore government for their solidarity with India following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.

Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong said India and Singapore will expand cooperation in frontier domains like space, noting that India has already launched over 20 Singapore-made satellites. He said the new MoU on space collaboration will further broaden this partnership. He also highlighted plans to deepen exchanges, including through closer civil service cooperation.

Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Prime Minister Wong in New Delhi and appreciated his consistent support for strengthening India-Singapore ties. He expressed confidence that the Modi-Wong talks would chart a roadmap for contemporary bilateral relations.

The visit of Prime Minister Wong marks the 60th anniversary of India-Singapore diplomatic ties and reflects the shared commitment to strengthening the partnership. The Ministry of External Affairs noted that Singapore remains a key partner for India in its Act East Policy, with bilateral ties elevated to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Singapore in September last year.
