
A delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), led by Mr. Jun Sasaki, Vice Governor of Iwate Prefecture, met Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar during their visit to India for Semicon India 2025 in New Delhi.
The delegation also toured Japanese semiconductor industries in Gujarat, including facilities at Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), and expressed gratitude to the state government for its continued support. They noted their appreciation for the rapid growth of Gujarat’s semiconductor sector.
During the meeting, CM Patel emphasized that under Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership, the strong India–Japan partnership will further boost Japanese investments in Gujarat’s semiconductor ecosystem. He highlighted the state’s steady progress with four semiconductor plants and its commitment to becoming a leading hub.
The Chief Minister expressed interest in long-term collaboration with Iwate Prefecture in areas such as technical support, skill development, and R&D for high-quality products. Senior state officials, including Shri M.K. Das, Dr. T. Natarajan, and Smt P. Bharathi, were also present at the meeting.
