Tsuyo Manufacturing Pvt Ltd, an EV powertrain solutions provider, has signed a Letter of Intent with the Government of Karnataka to establish a new manufacturing facility along with a large-scale testing track dedicated to commercial electric vehicles. The announcement was made at the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025, in the presence of Minister Priyank Kharge, senior government officials, and Tsuyo Director Lalit L Baid.
The upcoming facility in Dharwad will focus on producing a wide range of heavy-duty electric powertrain components. These will include multiple motor technologies—such as IPMSM, ACIM, SRM, SynRM, and Axial Flux—along with e-drives, e-axles, automatic transmissions, integrated 2-in-1 and 3-in-1 units, and complete powertrain assemblies. Production capacity will initially span from 0.5 kW to 250 kW, with the potential to scale up to 600 kW through partnerships with CETL and LvKON.
In parallel, Tsuyo will develop a full-scale testing track designed to validate electric buses, trucks, mining vehicles, and other heavy commercial EVs under real-world Indian operating conditions.
The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s domestic EV supply chain, reduce reliance on imported powertrain components, and generate new employment opportunities in north Karnataka.
Tsuyo’s Founder and CEO, Vijay Kumar, said the facility will support the development of reliable, locally built powertrain systems suited for Indian terrains and duty cycles. Minister Priyank Kharge added that the project aligns with Karnataka’s LEAP programme and industrial development policies, and is likely to attract more EV ecosystem players to the state.
Tsuyo’s portfolio includes electric motors, drives, converters, gearboxes, and e-axle systems for both light-duty and heavy-duty electric mobility applications.
