Pavna Industries Limited, a leading Indian manufacturer of automotive components, has entered into a joint venture with Taiwan-based SmartChip Microelectronic Corporation (SMC) to strengthen its presence in electronic systems and electric mobility solutions.

The new entity will develop and manufacture electronic locks and electric vehicle (EV) components for both automotive and non-automotive applications. These will include e-lock systems for residential and commercial use, as well as critical EV parts such as motor controllers, throttle bodies, dashboards for two- and three-wheelers, and EV charging infrastructure.

Under the agreement, Pavna Industries will hold an 80% stake and lead operations in India, leveraging its manufacturing expertise, procurement network, and strong OEM relationships. SMC will retain a 20% share, contributing advanced R&D capabilities, semiconductor design expertise, and innovation in e-locks and embedded EV technologies.

Founded in 1994 as Pavna Locks Limited, Pavna has evolved into a key supplier for India’s automotive industry. Its product range spans ignition switches, fuel tank caps, latches, auto locks, oil pumps, throttle bodies, casting components, and more, catering to passenger vehicles, two- and three-wheelers, commercial vehicles, and off-road vehicles. With manufacturing units in Aligarh, Aurangabad, Pantnagar, and a new facility under construction in Hosur, the company serves major OEMs including Bajaj, Honda, TVS, Mahindra & Mahindra, Royal Enfield, Ashok Leyland, Eicher Motors, Tork Motors, Revolt, and Mahindra Electric. Pavna also exports to markets such as the US, Italy, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Sudan, and Bangladesh.

SMC, known for its semiconductor design and electronic module development, brings deep expertise in smart electronic systems, e-locks, and embedded solutions for automotive and industrial sectors. Its collaboration with Pavna is expected to accelerate the adoption of advanced, localized electronic components in India’s rapidly growing EV and smart infrastructure markets.

This partnership reflects the industry shift toward electrification and digitalization, combining Pavna’s strong manufacturing base with SMC’s technology leadership to deliver competitive, future-ready mobility and security solutions.
