ZM Trucks has officially launched its latest model, the ZM8 SWB (Short Wheelbase), built on a 138-inch wheelbase to deliver improved maneuverability for a wide range of upfit needs.

Designed to accommodate 12-, 14-, and 16-foot box configurations, the ZM8 SWB is perfectly suited for urban deliveries and various vocational applications. Despite its compact dimensions, it carries forward the hallmark features of the ZM8 platform, including standard dual ePTOs (electric power take-offs) for easy integration with liftgates, refrigeration units, and other auxiliary equipment.

The ZM8 SWB is available in both Class 4 and Class 5 configurations:

  • Class 4: Payload capacity of 8,950 pounds with an estimated range of 165 miles
  • Class 5: Payload capacity of up to 12,450 pounds, with an estimated range of 150 miles

The ZM8 SWB gives fleet operators greater flexibility to tackle the challenges of dense urban routes, municipal deliveries, and specialized vocational upfits — all while delivering zero emissions and a lower total cost of ownership than conventional commercial vehicles.

“The ZM8 SWB was developed in response to real-world fleet feedback,” said Joost de Vries, CEO at ZM Trucks. “By combining shorter wheelbase agility with the power and range commercial fleets expect, we’re opening the door to more use cases than ever.”

The ZM8 SWB will be on display at the ZM Trucks Fontana Grand Opening in late August, where the company will host customers, media, and industry partners for one of the first looks at the vehicle and the expanded facility.
